Interview With Dr. Maini – Mississauga Dentist

Q. How long have you been in practice?
A. About 30 years

Q. When did you graduate?
A. In 1982.

Q. Do you own your dental practice in Mississauga?
A. Yes, I do. I also own a practice in Milton. Today’s dentistry owner is more than a dentist. I’m also a manager with business skills. I make day-to-day choices and take risks to operate my office at the highest possible level.

Q. Please describe your dental clinic in Mississauga.
A. My practice is on the border of Erin Mills and Clarkson Village area. It is located in Mississauga, on the historic Park Royal Plaza. I have six full-time and a few part-time employees. My regular hours are Monday 09:00 – 17:00, Tuesday 11:00 – 19:00, Wednesday 09:00 – 17:00,Thursday 09:00 – 18:00, Friday 09:00 – 13:00. Two Saturdays/month from Sept-June 09:00 – 14:00.

Q. What have been the most rewarding aspects of dentistry for you?
A. I like to see my patients walk out feeling good – I like to change their perspectives. I’m glad when they are happy with their choices. I obtain a personal satisfaction from helping others.

Q. What have been the most significant changes in dentistry that you have seen?
A. The big changes have been in bonding and reconstruction dentistry. The dental materials have changed greatly. We not only restore teeth and make them stronger, but also create a dental beauty together with patient.

Q. What qualities do you think make an excellent dentist?
A. You need ethics and good communication skills, and you must be good at working with people. It’s really a people-oriented profession. Also, as a good dentist, when faced with pain and disease, sees it as challenge to heal the condition. Both dentist and patient need to collaborate as a team. Patients want to feel that their dentist cares about their problem.
